Tainan Campus. A Green Milestone for Intenza
Completed in 2013, Tainan Campus is a 14,500 square meter complex that promotes environmentally sustainable production, renewable energy and, green technologies.
One of the greatest benefits of #smartmanufacturing is providing a more sustainable facility and ultimately a healthier environment. At Intenza, sustainability is not just an added bonus, it underpins everything the brand does. We equate sustainability with fitness for the future and through our manufacturing practices deliver premium quality whilst driving innovative technologies and reducing our ecological footprint.
Completed in 2013, Tainan Campus is a 14,500 square meter complex that promotes environmentally sustainable production, renewable energy and, green technologies. Designed by renowned Taiwanese architect J.A Chen, this award—winning project involved transforming a 3.3—hectare site into a state—of—the—art manufacturing facility, visitor centre and training hub.
Located in the south of Taiwan, the campus is surrounded by mountains consequently, we envisioned a lush, nature—filled environment to support a calm work working environment for the Intenza production line. Natural light penetrates the factory floor via carefully placed windows, as well as promoting cross—ventilation and improving indoor air quality— replacing the need for unpleasant fluorescent lighting and saving energy. The building’s crown jewel? A rooftop covered by 728kw solar panels producing clean energy to power the facility and nearby businesses.
Beautiful landscaping alleviates air—conditioner loading and carefully planned spaces offer a garden environment where during break times personnel, and visitors, are able to take a stroll around our green production plant. In order to raise the biodiversity index and provide habitats for wildlife to flourish, buildings were situated to maximise tree preservation and support the Intenza tree planting program. To date, more than 40,000 shrubs and trees have been planted, cultivated on—site by our expert gardeners. And, through wastewater treatment equipment we’ve taken action to use less water by recycling treated wastewater within our operations. As climate change puts greater pressure on this essential resource, we’re balancing our consumption of water, while generating tangible water benefits for the ecosystems and the communities in which we operate.
Intenza has built a sustainable campus by protecting and conserving local habitats, reducing carbon, and eliminating waste. We harness the power of our brand to inform, raise awareness about sustainability and encourage more sustainable choices. We have transformed the way we work, create and innovate. For Intenza, sustainable means considering the immediate and long—term consequences of our decisions. As part of society, we want to assume responsibility for the environment and our employees as well as for those outside of Tainan Campus perimeters. #howfitnessshouldfeel #greenmanufacturing
